Photo Friday: Hot

When I saw that the Photo Friday theme for this week was "hot," I tried to remember the time in my life when I was most hot. And one thing came to mind: Burning Man.

Imagine thousands of people standing in a circle in the desert around a giant wooden man on fire. The thing burns so bright, it makes your eyes adjust. It burns so hot, you hold your hand in front of your face to block it.

In that moment in 2003, I turned and photographed the people standing behind me, everyone in smiling in stunned silence as the man burned.
